Properties
The plugin only reads and writes properties that start with mtm-. A property called status or type is yours; the plugin ignores it.
Notes are recognised by mtm-kind, not by folder, so Matters and Actions can live anywhere in your vault.

Writing these notes from scripts or other apps? The note format says what to write and what to leave to the plugin.
Dates
The plugin sets mtm-start and mtm-due to Obsidian’s Date & time property type. They hold either a date (2026-10-15, all day) or a date and time (2026-10-15T10:00, timed). Seconds and a space instead of the T are read too.
Obsidian’s Properties panel and Bases tables show an all-day date as “00:00”, and editing it with Obsidian’s date picker adds a time, which makes the Action timed. Edit dates in the inspector to keep them all day.
Card order
mtm-order is written only when you put cards in your own order (Cards in your own order). The first card you place numbers its cell 10, 20, 30…; later moves write a number between the card’s new neighbours. Cards without one come after the numbered cards, in the automatic order. Boards and lists sorted automatically ignore it.
The number belongs to one cell, so moving an Action to another status or Matter removes it, unless the move places it by hand. A script or another app that moves an Action should remove it too. Anyone can delete it at any time: the card simply goes back among the unplaced ones.
The note body
The body is plain Markdown that the plugin never restructures. The inspector shows:
- Details: the text before the first list item, heading, embed or code block. When the details need a list or a heading, the inspector keeps them between two comment lines (
<!-- mtm-details: … -->and<!-- /mtm-details: … -->). Leave those lines in place. - Checklist: the task items (
- [ ]) anywhere in the note. - Linked notes and attachments: the links and embedded files in the body.
