Quick add
Run Quick add from the command palette, or select + in a cell of the board. Type the Action’s title and, if you want, some tokens. Each token you type turns into a chip and leaves the title.
Without tokens, the Action goes to the Inbox, in your backlog status, with your default type. Sort it later.
Quick add has no default hotkey. Assign one in Settings → Hotkeys, search for “Quick add”.
Tokens
| Token | Sets | Example |
|---|---|---|
/type |
The Action type, by name or ID | /call, /buy |
#Matter |
The Matter | #Kitchen, #"Kitchen renovation" |
@person |
A person involved | @Charlie |
!1 !2 !3 |
Priority: high, medium, low | !1 |
| a date | The due date, or start and due for a range | tomorrow 10am, fri, 15 oct |
- Matters and people are matched loosely while you type, with suggestions. Put a name in quotes to match it exactly. Choose New Matter … or New person … to create one; it is created when you add the Action.
- Types can be chosen from the picker too; it rewrites the
/typetoken. - A token that matches nothing shows as an invalid chip and is not applied.
Dates
Dates are read in English and Spanish: tomorrow 10am, friday, 15 oct, in 3 days, mañana a las 10, viernes.
If you only write in one of them, turn the other off in Settings → Matters that Matter → Quick add: Dates in English and Dates in Spanish. Its words for days and dates are then left in the title. One always stays on: turning off the last one shows “Quick add needs at least one language for dates.” The same languages apply wherever quick add’s tokens are read, such as the matters block.
- A single date sets the due date. A range (
from mon to wed,del lunes al miércoles) sets the start and due dates. - A weekday means the next one after today:
frion a Friday is next Friday. on the 1storel día 5means the next such day of the month.- Select × on a date chip to put its words back into the title.
Add and keep going
Enter adds the Action. Shift Enter adds it and keeps the dialog open for the next one. Started from a cell of the board, quick add begins in that lane’s Matter and that column’s status.
